Terms of Use

Plain English. No traps. Here's what using Vent Chat means. Last updated March 2026.

What Vent Chat is

A free, anonymous public chat room where people can express themselves. It is not a mental health service, not a crisis line, and not a substitute for professional support. By using the site, you agree to these terms.

What you post is your responsibility

The chat is public. Anything you write can be seen by anyone in the room. Don't write anything you'd regret a stranger reading, and don't share personal information about yourself or others.

We're not responsible for what other users say. Their words aren't ours.

What's not allowed

The details are in the community guidelines. The short version: no harassment, no detailed self-harm content, no sharing people's personal information, no spam or advertising, nothing illegal.

We may remove content or restrict access to users who violate these rules.

This is not a crisis service

If you're in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please reach out to someone trained to help. In the US, call or text 988. See the support page for resources worldwide.

The service is provided as-is

We do our best to keep things running, but we can't guarantee uptime or perfect performance. We're not liable for harm arising from using or being unable to use the service.

Age

You must be at least 13 to use Vent Chat.

Changes

If we update these terms, we'll change the date above. Continuing to use the service after changes means you accept the updated terms.
